Easthampton was up-and-coming for awhile. Now it’s just awesome.

Once one of the most booming mill towns in Western Massachusetts, Easthampton has been reclaiming its joie de vivre in recent years. Artists and creative types have flocked to the town, churning out art and pottery from factory buildings once famed for textiles, buttons, and rubber. Now the city boasts all the perks that come with being a cultural center – social, gastronomical, mixological, and musical, among others.

You’ll find enough options for everyone's tastes. Restaurants – from the upscale eateries to the old-school diners – are serving everything from arugula salad and free-range chicken to three-eggs-any-style with grits. You have your pick of cultural events every night of the week, like open mics, talks, and concerts.

Wherever you are, Mount Tom beckons, reminding you to get out and enjoy Easthampton’s open space and hiking trails, some of the most popular in Hampshire County. Spend a sunny day kayaking at Nashawannuck Pond and then watch the sunset in an apple orchard turned outdoor sculpture garden. What’s not to love?

Like a cold one? Easthampton has an emerging micro brewing scene, with craft breweries that are definitely worth a visit when you’re in Hampshire County. To live like a local, hop on the Manhan bike path and visit all three in one trip on two wheels (but please ride responsibly).

And did we mention the people? Whether you’re looking for a world-class tattoo artist or a helpful sommelier, you’re in the right place.
