Did you pack your bathing suit? Good, because we aren’t water shy in Hampshire County.

When glaciers retreated from Western Massachusetts at the end of the Ice Age, they generously left behind tons of picturesque streams, ponds, lakes and rivers. And now when summer hits, Hampshire County goes swimming! You can escape the heat by dipping a toe into dozens of local swimming holes, cannonballing into Puffer’s Pond or learning to water ski if you’re the adventurous type.

If you don’t want to be in the water, be on it. Bring your canoe, paddleboard or kayak and enjoy spots like the Upper Highland Lake at the DAR State Forest and the Connecticut River Greenway. Yes, this is the life.
