Welcome to the Relaxing Side of Hampshire County, where people come from far and wide — to feel good. Need to rejuvenate? We’ve got a yoga class for that. Seeking a good sweat? Our recreation options are endless.

In this two-part series, we’ll show off our wellspring of wellness, uncovering some of the very best foods, drinks, places, and spaces for achieving rest and rejuvenation in the Pioneer Valley. Whatever you need to feed your body, mind, and soul — we’ve got it, and we’ve got it in spades.

Welcome to Part One: Please Imbibe

First things first. Are you hungry? We are! And whatever tenet of eating well you follow, we can accomodate. Drink your fruits and vegetables (in smoothie form) at Nourish. Grab a turmeric latte at The Water’s Fine goods + coffee. Stock up on your favorite form of edible cannabis at one of our recreational dispensaries.

If you believe that fresh is best, consider booking a seat at one of the farm-to-table dinner parties hosted by Wheelhouse Farm. Hit one of the many farmers markets located all over the Valley. Or this time of year, stop by any number of roadside stands for the spring delight we dream of all year. That’s Asparagus to most of the word. Hadley Grass to the locals.

Do you prefer one-stop-shopping for all things wellness? River Valley Co-op is the full-service, community-owned grocery store of your dreams. Enjoy kombucha on tap, grass-fed everything, and the seasonal best from our hard-working farmers and producers.

In Hampshire County, we eat (and drink) well. And so will you.

A Wellspring of Wellness

What does relaxation mean to you? For some, it’s a great meal. For others, it’s a good cup of coffee and some peace of quiet. Whatever your version, we’re confident you can find it here. Enjoy this list of healthful places we love.

Nourish Cafe - Everything at this 100% plant-based cafe will make your health-warrior mouth water. From juices and smoothies to grain bowls and matcha lattes, this sunshine-filled space will inspire your wellness journey. On your way out, grab an energy bite or chia pudding for later.

Paul and Elizabeth’s Restaurant - This Thornes Marketplace favorite has been serving up natural foods with fresh, locally-sourced, seasonally-driven ingredients since 1978. Try the watercress and sea vegetable salad, any of their delicious seafood dishes, or the grilled tofu kabobs with brown rice. Don’t worry, they also have wine.

Haymarket Cafe — This Northampton mainstay is a small batch coffee roaster, restaurant, bakery, cafe, and juice bar — serving up healthy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners seven days a week. While you’re there, consider donating to the Common Account, which funds meals for anyone who can’t pay.

Bela Vegetarian Restaurant — Enjoy eclectic vegetarian dining in downtown Northampton! Bela uses seasonal, local produce to create simple, beautifully-seasoned dishes that will make you feel like a million bucks. Tuesday - Saturday you’ll find this tiny gem packed full of people, so get there early grab some cash on your way.

The Water’s Fine goods + coffee — This modern cafe/retail store is focused on small production, local and fair trade goods, provisions, and gifts. And they’re selling all sorts of amazing drinks, treats, and wares in one of the most beautiful spaces in Easthampton. Go for the beetroot latte. Leave with a killer cookbook and that air plant you’ve been meaning to buy.
