In Hampshire County, we’re known for our scenery. And unlike other places that are famous for one beautiful thing or another, we really run the gamut. We have mountaintop views and swimming holes. Waterfalls and the winding Connecticut River. There are farm fields, bike path bridges, botanical gardens, and historic buildings.

The old saying goes — if a tree falls in the woods, does it make a sound? Updated for the digital age — if you didn’t post it on Instagram, did it really happen?

This is the question we’re pondering as we take stock of some of the most Instagrammable (can we make that a word?) spots in Hampshire County.

The Icons

There are a few places around here that we just can’t quit. Iconic buildings. Stunning landscapes. Restored relics that hold our history. It’s no surprise people can’t stop taking their picture.

The Arts

Another Insta-friendly mainstay? The arts in all their forms. Stand in front of a mural. Lay down on some street art. You’ll make it look casual, even though it took 47 shots to get it perfect.

The Natural

Last but not least, it’s (anecdotally) the thing most photographed by our loyal #othersidema hashtaggers. It’s the great outdoors. The fields, farms, and flowers. Captured on mountaintops and from Connecticut River kayaks. It really needs no introduction, but we’re guessing it’s too late for that.
