Christmas Tree day trips in the Hilltowns

What better reason for a trip to Hampshire County than to get your holiday tree?

Take a drive along Western Massachusetts Scenic Byway Route 112 to Justamere Tree Farm in Worthington where you can pick up a handsaw and choose-and-cut your own Christmas tree. This family farm has ten acres of Fraser and Balsam Firs trees that they replant and hand-trim each year.  In the barn, they also sell fresh wreaths and swags hand-made on the farm, and have their pure Massachusetts maple syrup products, gift boxes and handcrafted brooms for sale. If you don’t feel like hacking and sawing, fresh pre-cut trees are also available at the Worthington farm as well as in Westfield in a retail lot located at Hampton Ponds Plaza on Route 202. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

At Hanging Mountain Farm in Westhampton, after picking out the perfect tree from the field and tying it onto the car, you can sit down with the family and enjoy one of the best homemade breakfasts in Western Massachusetts. On location next to its maple sugaring shack is the Strawbale Café, Hanging Mountain’s full service restaurant and gift shop that’s made entirely out of straw bales. Pick up some of the farm’s Massachusetts maple syrup on site, too.

And check out CISA's full list of tree farms up and down the Pioneer Valley.
