Situated on a 330-year-old, mile long street, Historic Deerfield preserves and interprets the architecture, artifacts and lifestyle of a prosperous early New England town. Step into early New England as you tour Historic Deerfield's eleven house museums. Explore hundreds of years of history along an original, mile-long street. Two houses, the Stebbins House and Sheldon House, are available for self-guided tours all day during the regular season. The Flynt Center of Early New England Life at Historic Deerfield dramatically enhances public access to the museum's nationally acclaimed decorative arts collections through exhibitions and visible storage. Set back from the village street at the edge of a field, and in line with several 19th-century barns, the Flynt Center is fully accessible to all visitors throughout the day. Historic Deerfield is home to one of the best public collections of art and antiques in America. Begun and formed in large part by founders Henry and Helen Flynt during a lifetime of collecting, the collection has been refined with hundreds of additions by professional staff since the mid-1970s. The libraries of Deerfield's two museums, Historic Deerfield and the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, are housed together in one building, known as the Memorial Libraries. Historic Deerfield offers access to several outdoor activities including the Cooks' Garden, walking tours, and the Old Burying Ground.
